This is my Second blog in the Series of vRealize Operations Manager a.k.a vRops . We will learn how to configure the vROps Appliance and integrate with your infrastructure.
For Reading the deployment of the vROps . vRealize Operations Manager (vROps) 6.2 Deployment– Step-by-Step : Part-1
Before Going Through need to keep in mind that like vCops, vRops is also having the UI and ADMIN console. For both URL’s they have different use cases. UI Console gives you access to manage your environment (Add/Remove etc.) Monitor the health risk and lets you explore all the other features here. Even ADMIN console having the very limited but holding big responsibility like System Staus, software update and Support etc. So we will keep in touch with both of them in this part.
UI URL : https://fqdn or ip of your vrops appliance/ui/ or just entering the FQDN or IP will also redirect you to the UI page.
As I have my DNS server setup so I added my vrops in to the DNS so i will redirect all my url’s with fqdn . if you don’t have dns server setup you can continue with the ip address of your vRops vm.
Step 1. Open a browser with the IP address or FQDN of the vROps appliance. After accepting the exception You will be presented with 3 options for the initial setup. In my lab environment I am choosing the New Installation. For production environments it depends to choose Either the New Installation or Expand an Existing Installation option.
Step 2. As this is the first appliance so it will give you a warning message . Click YES.
Step 3. Click Next.
Step 4. Choose the Certificate . I am using Default if you have CA or self Signed certificate available you can install it too.Click NEXT
Step 5 . Provide the Cluster Node Name and the NTP Server for your Envrionment. Click NEXT
Step 6. Click Finish.
Step 7.After Clicking Finish, This will redirect you to the ADMIN portal of vROps appliance and you need to start the vRealize operation cluster status by clicking the Start vRealize Operation Manager. As this is the first appliance so it will give you a warning message . Click YES. It will take atleast 5-10 minute to setup itself and starting the appliance services
Step 8. Once you are done. open the UI For your vROps appliance by entering the UI URL : https://fqdn or ip of your vrops appliance/ui/ and login to the poratl with default local user ADMIN
Step 9. After login you will get the vROps Configuration page.Click NEXT
Step 10. Accept the EULA & click NEXT
Step 11. Enter the Product license key . you can also use the product evaluation key for trial run.Click NEXT
Step 12. Select Customer Experience Improvement Program and click NEXT
Step 13. Now your configuration is completed and ready to configure the vCenter in next step . Click Finish.
Step 14. you will get the Solutions tab and here you need to configure the VMware vSphere by click the setting icon on top menu.
Step 15. Here you need to enter the information for your vCenter like Display name, Description, vCenter Server and Credential etc.
Step 17. once you enter all the information click on Test Connection and it will communicate with your vCenter and match the thumbprint and certificate of it. Click OK
Step 18. click OK on Test connection successful.
Step 19. Click on Save Settings and Select Next
Step 20. This Monitoring goal will come with the default configuration page select NEXT
Step 21. Click Finish
Step 22. Now you can see the Collection status is started showing in collecting state.
Step 23. Click on the home button on top to see the first Collection and your Dashboards.
